What is the Integrative Arts Major?Integrative Arts is a multidisciplinary, theme-oriented, and student designed major that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Arts. The major requires 36 credits and must be organized about a coherent theme (an idea, topic, or issue that the student wishes to explore), include coursework from two or more different subject areas, and not be a theme that could reasonably be pursued through an existing program of study. Typically, students in Integrative Arts focus their programs of study on vocational, scholarly, or creative interests in the arts that exist outside of or across the boundaries of existing majors at Penn State. All students must complete a minimum of 24 credits organized about their central theme of study with the remaining credits in the major selected from other arts areas. All students must also complete a minimum of 15 credits of 400 or equivalent level coursework in the major. For the BA degree in Integrative Arts, a minimum of 124 credits is required. |
